Iran to launch domestically-built Fajr satellite into space

Head of Iranian Space Agency (ISA) Hamid Fazeli says the country plans to launch its domestically-built Fajr (Dawn) satellite into space during early months of the new Iranian calendar year (commencing on March 20).
Fajr is a measurement and imaging satellite that will examine subsystems used in previous satellites, Fazeli told IRNA on Tuesday.
He added that the manufacturing work of the satellite is still underway and nearly complete.

Commander of Civil Defense Organization Gholamreza Jalali said on Sunday Iran manufactures 90 percent of its needed defense equipment.
He made the remarks in an interview with reporters on the sidelines of the First National Cyber Defense Conference in Tehran.

Iran has prohibited import of foreign computer security software, Mehr quotes Iran's Information and Communications Technology Minister, Reza Taghipour as saying. Iran exchanged some 1.8 gigawatts (GW) of electricity with the neighboring countries on February 17, ILNA news agency reported.
Armenia was the main exporter of power to Iran and Iraq was the main importer with 284 megawatts of export and 1,054 megawatts of import, respectively.
Iran plans to connect its national power electricity grid to Russia by the next calendar year which will end on March 20, 2013, Iran power generation transmission and distribution management company (TAVANIR) managing director said in January.
